unmerited

I bought a truck recently. I love this truck. It is the first vehicle I have ever owned and have not wanted or wished for something different.
Ironically, this truck has caused me several issues since I bought it. It has needed repairs three times in three months. I was told if it were not for bad luck, I would have no luck at all.
A lot of people would scoff and wonder why it is such a treasure to me. Why I would not be disgusted and disillusioned by all of the work I am having to put into it and why I would not just get rid of it for something “better”.
What exactly is better anyway?
What makes one thing worth more than another?
Is it the effort we must put into it?
It made me think a lot.
I do not think we truly appreciate things that come too easily. I believe we take it for granted. Then, when something actually takes work we lose interest in it and we look for something easier. For some reason we equate ease with favor, and it is actually the very opposite.
Favor is “UNMERITED” (unearned). Favor is when everything looks like there is no way- God makes the way and shows you His grace and faithfulness.
Is it inconvenient right now? Absolutely. And it is sometimes frustrating. But when I sit and think about it, this is my opportunity to look for favor. To rest and to trust that all will be as it should be. I love this truck, it’s worth a little irritation to be able to enjoy all I have planned for it… adventures for sure.
